World War II Soviet Medals
The Soviet Union was born out of one of the bloodiest revolutions in human history and would become a world superpower as a result of the end of the Second World War. The United Soviet of Socialist Republics, or USSR, was one of the most consequential nations in the history of humanity, and it still influences the world today more than twenty years after its collapse. To the people of the Russian Federation, memories of the “Great Patriotic War” are still very fresh in their minds, and their celebration of their Victory over Nazi Germany on May 8th, 1945, is one of the grandest of all state sponsored celebrations. Within this gallery are various artifacts of the USSR during the Great Patriotic War, including some with their original issue papers, such as the Capture of Berlin Medal, and the Victory in The Great Patriotic War Medal. There are also medals to commemorate the Battles of Stalingrad, Leningrad, and Warsaw.
