The Napoleonic Wars

Very few individuals make such an impact on history as to have the title “The Great” attached to their name, such as Peter the Great, Alexander the Great, and Pompeii the Great to name a few. Even fewer have earned the macabre title of having a war tied to their name, such as the Cesarean Civil War in Ancient Rome, but only one man has can claim to have multiple nations declare war not on his home nation…but on him. Napoleon Bonaparte is one of the most consequential, and one of the most legendary figures in all of European history. His victories at Friedland, Yena, Borodino, and many other locations across Europe and North Africa are thoroughly studied by scholars to this day for a variety of reasons. The artifacts present in this folder will range from a set of vest buttons from Napoleons Imperial Guard, and the 13th regiment of Genral Davout’s first Corp of the Grand Armie, as well as a Prussian “Cannon Medal” made to commemorate service during from 1813-1814, meaning the recipient very likely was present at the famous “Battle of the Nations” at Leipzig.

  • Medal Name: Prussian 1813-1814 Campaign “Cannon” Medal
